Robert Pattinson has landed in New York City, and he kicked off his stay last night with a stop at "Late Show With David Letterman," where he and the gabber engaged in idle chatter not disimilar to first date banter. ("Where were you born?" "What do your parents think of you being a vampire?" Etc.) It was an especially odd line of questioning considering this wasn't Rob's first time on the Letterman coach, but we're just going to go with it.
The 25-year-old quickly ingratiated himself to the New York audience by doling out the compliments, albeit slightly back-handedly. "People in New York are a little more vocal than other places," he said. "It's funny. They've got some dirty mouths, which is kind of great because it makes it exciting after you've done it a few times. You want anything, you want them to attack you."
Though we're pretty sure Rob doesn't literally want a rabid fanatic pouncing him (seriously, don't), he did confirm that the widespread adoration/hysteria has its perks. "It feels like job security," he enthused.
That isn't to say that Rob doesn't yearn for little privacy, even going so far as to employ some weird (and probably not super-successful) tactics to get it, like using strange facial expressions to throw people off his scent. "You try to draw attention to the wrong part of your body," he explained. "The best disguise is repellant."
Whatever you say, Rob. Perhaps he was practicing his disguise techniques while filming "Breaking Dawn" in Brazil, because he let spill to Dave that a bit of his vampire effect is missing from the final product—specifically his signature sparkle. "It's kind of a glaring continuity error," Rob said of the scene shot in the glaring southern sun.
We'll let it slide this time, considering you are gifting us with the most eagerly anticipated "Twilight" moment ever in this latest installment. BUT DON'T PUSH YOUR LUCK.
